Fishing at Oregon Inlet, NC on Friday, May 1, 2009
Report posted by Capt. Lindsay Fuller of the June Bug on 5/04/09

June Bug fished the Rausch party out of Oregon Inlet last Friday. The fish have been around Hatteras Point near the 230 Rocks so that's where we went. There had been tuna on several of the previous days so we ere hoping to tug on a few.

The ride from the Inlet to Hatteras Point was decent. The inshore water was 62 degrees and gray green. Temps started climbing well inside the Tower at topped at 74.6. Wind was SW at 20 with gusts. Seas were 4 to 6 on top of swells. Not the greatest sea conditions to say the least.

The lines had been in about 40 minutes and we had a triple on gaffer Mahis. Nice fish. After that, we didn't have a knockdown the rest of the day.

We heard one other boat had 3 YFT that were barely 27". No other boat reported anything.

Our party had booked a two-day charter but we were blown out Saturday and Sunday. It rained a lot on Saturday as per the forecast as well.
