Report posted by Capt. Fran Verdi of the The Drop Off on 7/05/09

Sorry for the late reports but fishing every day left little time to get them up on the site. Have two days off and then back at it for the next two week.

If you want to get out fishing give me a call 609-868-8970

Today Capt. Fran had out Cousins with the Ray Cerrone Party for some sea bass. Started out fishing 60 feet of water and had to steady action but many of the sea bass were just short of the 12.5 legal limit. Had make a move north and was fishing in a little bit deeper water and end the day with 6 sea bass, 2 bluefish, and one ling.

6/30/09
Today we had a returning group out from last year in the Nelson Party. Fished in 55 to 60 feet of water and had drop and reel fishing for sea bass but once again the shorts out number the keepers. The went home with 9 sea bass just enough to fee the group at the house for dinner.

7/1/09
No much to say today but the Wilkens party was out for a trip that was riddled with thunder and lighting and rain. The (am) was nice and it looked like if was going to be a great day. Got the the fishing grounds and drop and reel on short sea bass and the it all came to and end with three storms in a row. By the time the third storm moved through the party was ready to go home. We were back at the dock by 11am with nothing to show for the effort.

7/2/09
Today Cousins was the boat to leave the dock with the Luci McClure party for a 4 hour trip. Fished in 55 to 60 feet of water and had fish on the finder but had a tough time to get them to bit. They ended the day with 6 sea bass and one ling.

7/3/09
Today Capt. Fran ran an open boat with Steve Richter and My new Jr Mate Patrick for some sea bass. Fished in 60 to 65 feet of water and did not fish the reef sties but found the fishing drop and reel over two different wrecks. Steve ended the day with 9 sea bass. New JR mate Patrick did a great job with making rigs and measuring fish. Patrick even did some fishing with Steve and I. We had one person on the open boat cancel due to being sick the night before.

7/4/09
The Drop Off and Capt. Fran were on another open boat trip with George, Sean, Chad and Lall. We started off in 60 to 65 feet of water fishing the two wrecks with non stop fish but most of them being short. Did put a couple in the box. Moved to the reef and made three stops but still had shorts. Ocean was flat and need to get some fish for the group. Made the move and fished 70 to 90 feet of water for the first time this year. Made 4 stops and found keeper fish at all four stops. The group end up with 15 keeper sea bass. If we had last years 12 inch fish we would have had our five man limit of fish and I would have been cleaning the fish well into the night. LOL LOL

7/5/09
Took a short 4 hour trip with the Paul party and there 8 year old son for his first trip saltwater fishing. Fishing in 55 to 60 feet of water and once again finding fish but all were 12 inch at every stop. The group ended the day with 2 keeper sea bass.

Quit wishing and get fishing!!!!!
