Star Fish Fishing Log Beach Haven 7/2– 7/5:

Thursday July 2nd

Captain Vic had a Beautiful day on the water. He ran off shore and fished the wrecks and reefs off Beach Haven, and put togther a good catch. We caught over 40 sea bass in a half day morning trip. There we some very large porgies mixed in the catch, which is fun now that they are legal to keep. Great time was had by all.

Friday July 3.

AM. Wind W 10-15. Seas 2-4. Captain Carl went offshore with party of 8 fishermen. Drifted a number of wreck until we found a good spot, then concentrated on our fishing. Caught over 50 black bass, bluefish, fluke. One monster seabass. As usual, the youngest caught the biggest fish.  Hope they send me the picture. Great day on the deeper wrecks. The trip was fun in the sun. We also had a new Jr. Mate with us for his maiden voyage. He appears to be a good potential for the future. Hope everyone will look up the Beach Haven Charter Fishing Association Jr. Mates program on our website.

Friday July 3

PM trip. Captain Tom Masterson, upgraded his license to 50 tons and ran a successful trip to the LE reef. There was too much wind inshore but it was better further off. While the sky was threatened, it never made good on its promise of rain. His party all caught fish and had a great time.

Saturday July 4th .

AM trip. We went out to the LE Reef and then to the wrecks. The wind was up a bit, and we had to anchor to keep people comfortable. Fortunately the fish seemed happy, and we put together a good catch. Then we moved back into the inlet, and caught some nice fluke, with one very large keeper, and a number of small throwbacks.

Saturday July 4th .

PM trip. Captain Masterson and mate JD took their party that included six young children out to the LE Reef and then to the wrecks. The wind was up a bit inshore, but better offshore. Once again we started at the inshore wrecks and we anchored to keep people comfortable. Fortunately the fish seemed happy, and we put together a good catch. In the log after the trip, one child wrote “ I wish every day was like this.” So do we.
